How can I save so much taxes from donation

Structured donation programs have been in existence for several years now in Canada and are still growing in popularity.

The original programs have all used the same logic or strategy in order to give tax payers a tax receipt larger than the actual donation giving the donor a net advantage. One of the concern though is that, these program works by challenging some of CRA's "point of view".

Last year a new player came along, the Canadian Organization of International Philanthropy (COIP) with a different logic and approach. Since then COIP is the only structure donation program I recommend because instead of challenging the CRA, they work in harmony with the Income Tax Act.

COIP is the only program of its kind in Canada today.  They are not a "Leveraged Cash" or "Trust" program and, rather than challenge the CRA on the definitions of
the Income Tax Act of Canada, they demonstrate exactly what they require:

1. No "Advantage" (CRA term) to the donor
2. "Impoverishment" (CRA term) to the donor
3. Fair Market Value is established (i.e. - donor receives receipt for exactly what they paid & not more)

When should I contribute?

The sooner you contribute, the smaller your cost. The return on cash will vary from province to province and will also depends on when you will make your donation. The return will vary anywhere from 50 to 150%.

Remember that by contributing sooner you will:

1. Pay less for the same tax advantage.
2. Bring medicine sooner to children that really need them.
