Biography of Mr. François Michaud

François Michaud, CFA is the founder of RightHedge™ Investments. Mr. Michaud brings to the RightHedge™ Investments experience and expertise in investment strategies, market analysis, portfolio/risk management, monitoring, investment vision and leadership. His passion about investing is contagious. Since 2001 Mr. Michaud left the traditional investment world to pursue his own wealth building vision.

From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Michaud was an Associate Advisor at RBC Dominion Securities (RBCDS), Montreal, the largest Canadian brokerage firm. He joined a top producing investment team in order to co-manage discretionary portfolios and provide advisory services for the non-discretionary accounts. Recognizing the limits and constraints of the traditional investment field, Mr Michaud formed his own hedge fund with the objective of profiting from all market environments. His vast experience and knowledge of trading disciplines led him to develop a leading edge approach to Investments.

From 1993 through 1997, Mr. Michaud was an independent consultant serving as an investment strategist and research analyst for the institutional investment community in matters of asset allocation, portfolio modelling and stock selection. During this time, he also published daily and weekly research papers entitled “The Bond Stalker”, offering clients insight on specific trading tactics and recommendations.

From 1988 through 1993, Mr. Michaud was employed by the brokerage firm Desjardins Securites in Montreal most recently as Chief Investment Strategist (1991 through 1993). As Chief Investment Strategist, he was involved in establishing and implementing investment policies and strategies and supervising account management. As an analyst (1988 through 1991), Mr. Michaud’s responsibilities included applying technical analysis, orienting and managing the research department, producing research reports, developing investment strategies, and advising the Management Committee.

During that time, Mr. Michaud collaborated on a regular weekly column in Finance Magazine and was also cited numerous times in financial magazines and newspaper including the Canadian Business, Journal Les affaires.

For a part of 1988, Mr. Michaud was employed by the Montreal Stock Exchange as a Negotiation Trainee with responsabilities including option negotiation, establishing price and option strategies. In addition, he completed courses on stocks and options, options synthesis, technical analysis, structure and capital, and futures and commodities.

In 1994, Mr. Michaud earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation through the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts. He is a member of the Association for Investment Management and Research and the Montreal Financial Analyst Society. From 1987 through 1990, Mr. Michaud received certifications in the Canadian and American options, futures, and commodities markets from the Canadian Securities Institute. Mr. Michaud received a Bachelor of Physical Education with a concentration in administration from the University of Ottawa (1984).
